Welcome to The Salty Pier

New bar and grill opening in Stanley Bridge

- BY COLIN MACLEAN

There’s a new place to grab a bite in Stanley Bridge. Summerside restaurateur Billy MacKendrick, owner and manager of Local 311, recently opened The Salty Pier Bar & Grill at 9796 Cavendish Road. The restaurant is located inside The Inn at the Pier. MacKendrick said he has been exploring options to get into the North Shore resort area restaurant market, and this location stood out. “We’ve been looking for the past year to do something out in Cavendish. About six months ago this opportunity came along, so we’ve been working on it ever since,” said MacKendrick. “The location is perfect … it’s sitting right on the water. The view is great. “People can sit and enjoy their meals, they don’t have to eat and run and it’s kind of just outside the hubbub and rush of Cavendish. It’s a little more laid back.” MacKendrick described the food at The Salty Pier as catering to the tastes of visitors and locals alike, with lots of seafood and grilled fare.

The Salty Pier opened recently, and MacKendrick said things have been going well. They currently only open for supper on weekdays, starting at around 3 p.m., but open at 11 a.m. on weekends. He added that they are currently looking for staff to allow them to open for lunch throughout the week as well. MacKendrick also said they will be running until the end of September for now, though depending on demand they may continue to open on weekends.
