Ellerslie’s Keegan Gaudet scores big win

-

Young Keegan Gaudet from Ellerslie had a strong showing this past weekend while racing in the 2018 Canadian Superbike Championship series final round at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in Bowmanville, Ont. Gaudet, who has been racing the 2018 ARL Series (Atlantic Roadracing League) is currently battling for championships in both the Atlantic lightweight 250, and lightweight 400 classes. Racing CTMP for the very first time with help from Oleary Brothers Racing (Windsor, N.S.), pro cycle and Honda Canada, Gaudet was immediately quick right out of the gate setting fast times. Unfortunately, suffering a crash that significantly damaged the front end of his bike during Friday’s practice sessions limiting Gaudet’s track time. Even with a different and subpar front end set up, Gaudet still managed to qualify with a very respectable time. In the end, it was Gaudet who prevailed and managed to get his very first win at the Canadian Superbike national level. Gaudet is the first racer from P.E.I. to ever do so. With a total race time of 16:44.466 min and a personal best lap time of 1:40.463, Gaudet held off the other three riders to take the win. Gaudet is the son of Wendy Doucette and Kevin Wagner. Gaudet is in action again this weekend at Atlantic Motorsport Park in Shubienacadie, N.S., for round 4 of the 2018 ARL Championship series as he battles for titles in two different classes. .
