Former Timberwolves player to suit up for Moncton High School this fall
A former Cornwall Timberwolves football player is the star of Saturday’s Football P.E.I. lineman camp. Aidan O’Rourke started his football career in Grade 7 as an outside linebacker playing for the Timberwolves in the six-aside bantam league. After taking home his team’s rookie of the year award his first season, he moved to the trenches as an offensive and defensive lineman. For the next two years, he would be a team captain for the bantam Timberwolves playing as a centre and a defensive end. In 2016, he won Football P.E.I.’s league MVP award after a successful season with 14. O’Rourke played on the varsity Timberwolves in Grade 10 and 11, playing in the championship game both seasons. In the spring, O’Rourke tried out for Team New Brunswick’s 12-aside under-18 program and was the first ever Islander to crack the 55-man roster. He was a starting guard and defensive tackle for Team P.E.I.’s six-aside program this summer that played Team Nova Scotia. O’Rourke will be playing for Moncton High School this fall as a right guard on their offensive line. He is also certified in the first down youth football program as well as MED coaching courses from Sport P.E.I. The camp will be held at the green space at Sport P.E.I., 40 Enman Cres., from 11 a.m.-3 p.m., with an hour lunch break. The cost is $20 and open to all Football P.E.I. members from flag to tackle.
