The race for city council seats is heating up after a number of residents have announced their bid for election. Now a current councillor has stepped into the ring to keep his seat in Ward 7: Green’s Shore – Three Oaks. Brian McFeely is seeking re-election in the upcoming election after serving his first term on council. “It has been a tremendous learning experience. I am hopeful that the residents of Ward 7 will allow me to benefit from these learnings by supporting me for another term on council. “I believe we have been a very functional, prudent and responsible council that has moved the city forward during our term,” McFeely said. Over the past four years, McFeely has chaired the city’s Governance, Policy and Strategy committee, serves with the human resources and legal affairs department, and Culture Summerside. He also represents the city on the College of Piping, Harbourfront Theatre and P.E.I. Discovery Centre boards of directors. “These are exciting times for Summerside. Throughout the city you can see signs of progress and feel a real sense of confidence in the future of Summerside.” McFeely, a retiree, worked in the public service sector at municipal and federal levels for 40 years. He currently owns and operates McFeely Consulting providing professional support to non-profit and government organizations. Some of his main priorities are the services for seniors and youth, development of affordable housing policy, renewal of infrastructure, increasing the number of people and working downtown and supporting the city’s ditch infilling program. Nancy Quinn is also vying for the seat for Ward 7.
