Three people charged with DUIs over weekend
Three people are facing drunk driving related charges after separate incidents in Summerside over the weekend.
The first occurred Friday at about 9:30 p.m., when Summerside Police Services were called to a parking lot on Heather Moyse Drive regarding a suspicious vehicle.
While speaking with the driver, a 29-year-old Summerside man, the officer noted signs of impairment.
The man was arrested for having care and control of a vehicle while impaired by a drug. The accused was later examined by a drug recognition expert and will be appearing in court at a later date.
Then, just before 1:30 a.m. Saturday, police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Highland Avenue for several traffic infractions.
The driver, 26-year-old Prince County woman, failed a roadside screening test and was arrested for impaired driving.
She later provided breath samples in excess of the legal limit and will appear in court at a later date to face a charge of impaired driving.
The third incident happened just after 2:30 a.m. Sunday, when an officer on patrol came across a vehicle being driven in the ditch at the north end of Central Street.
Police stopped the vehicle and the 25-year-old woman driving was arrested.
She also provided breath samples in excess of the legal limit and will be in court at a later date to answer to drunk driving related charges.
All three drivers were also issued driving suspensions and their vehicles were impounded for 30 days.
A fourth driver was issued a seven-day license suspension after being stopped at 10:30 p.m. Saturday on Queen Street. The driver showed signs of alcohol consumption and was subjected to a roadside screening test.
The test results were above the provincial limits for driving and the license suspension was issued.
