-

Three rookies sparked an offensive explosion by the Kensington Monaghan Farms Wild on Sunday.

Lucas Parsons had a fourpoint afternoon – two goals and two assists – while Isaac Wilson and Keiran Gallant each netted braces and added single helpers in the Wild’s 9-1 triumph over the Fredericton Caps.

The victory gave the Wild three of a possible four points in back-to-back games in the New Brunswick/P.E.I. Major Midget Hockey League. The undefeated Moncton Flyers, who are 5-0-0 (won-lost-overtime losses), rallied to edge the Wild 5-4 in Kensington on Saturday night. At Willie O’Ree Place, Wild sophomore defenceman William Proud, who contributed nine assists in 34 regular-season games in his rookie campaign, netted his first regular-season goal in major midget. Proud also chipped in with a pair of helpers for a three-point effort while Duncan Picketts and Zac Arsenault netted single tallies as the Wild improved to 2-1-1.

Other assists were credited to Ryan Richards (3), Zach Biggar (2) and Reid Peardon.

Daniel Yaroslavsky replied for Fredericton (1-3-2).

The Wild built period advantages of 2-0 and 6-1. Winning goaltender Chad Arsenault turned aside 13 of 14 shots. The Wild is back in action on Friday, when they provide the opposition for the Charlottetown Bulk Carrier Pride’s home opener at the Bell Aliant Centre on the UPEI campus. Kensington hosts the Northern Moose (1-7-0) at Credit Union Centre in Kensington on Saturday. Both games are listed as 7:30 p.m. starts.
