Island celebrates Autism Awareness Month

Island Autism Organizati­ons partner to celebrate Autism Awareness Month

The Autism Society of Prince Edward Island and the Stars of Life Foundation for Autism are working together during October to provide events and activities that will contribute to the Island Autism community during Autism Awareness Month.

The Autism Society of P.E.I. is a non-profit organizati­on aimed at providing informatio­n and support to family members, profession­als, and individual­s affected by autism. The Autism Society programs, resources and services include: regular family activities and events, social programs, family diagnosis packages and navigation, a resource library,

parent support nights, family subsidy programs and more. The Stars of Life Foundation for Autism is a charitable organizati­on that works with young adults, age 18 and older, and is committed to creating a quality of life for young people with autism spectrum disorder. The Stars of life Foundation programs and resources include housing supports, respite programs, day and life skills programs, educationa­l support, career support and more.

Building and creating autism acceptance, inclusion and autism education across the island community is a partnered vision of the Autism Society of PEI and the Stars for Life Foundation.
