Classic fairy tale villains will come to life this October at the Celtic Performing Arts Centre in Summerside.

“The ‘House of Villains Cabaret’ will certainly get you in the Halloween spirit,” said Reasha Walsh, executive director of Spotlight School of Arts in Summerside. The community performing arts school is presenting the show, which was written and directed by Katelynn Kelly. “Through our community arts program we’ve provided a platform for Katelynn to write this incredible show. She wrote last year’s show, too. So she’s building on that experience. And she’s doing great.”

“House of Villains Cabaret” is set on Halloween night, in a graveyard, with everyone’s favourite fairy tale baddies. They’ve all come together for a party, but a new cohort has a plan to shake things up and stir up some trouble, explained Walsh.

Like the title suggests, the musical will be cabaret style with characters breaking into song throughout the production’s two acts.

“Just because they’re a certain character doesn’t mean they’re going to be singing their song. We’ve got songs from all kinds of Halloween-y movies and productions.

“If you’re a fan of Halloween, this is definitely the show to see.”

The cast of 17 people will take the stage at Celtic Performing Arts Center at the College of Piping on Oct. 25 at 7:30 p.m.
