The funeral for the late Peter J. Chaisson of Tignish, P.E.I., Veteran of the second world war was held on Monday morning September 24,2018 from the Rooney Funeral Home & Chapel Alberton to St. Simon and St. Jude Church Tignish where funeral mass was celebrated at 10:30 a.m. by the Rev. John Molina who delivered the Homily and had the prayers of final commendati­on and farewell. The first reading was addressed by Mary Bernard. The second reading was addressed by Norma Sonier. The prayers of the faithful were invited by Seminarian Walter Flynn. The Eucharisti­c ministers were Ken Jones and Walter Flynn. The Crucifer was Louis Shea and the candle bearers were Charles Bernard and Clarence Powers. The alter server was James Hogan. The choir was under the direction of the cantor Vincent Doucette. The organist was Diane Handrahan. The procession­al hymn was O God Our Help In Ages Past. The psalm was To You O Lord I Lift Up My Soul. The offertory hymn was The Prayer of St. Francis. The communion hymn was Gifts of Finest Wheat. The song of farewell was Songs of the Angels. The recessiona­l hymn was Amazing Grace. The pallbearer­s were Darrell Chaisson, Marcus Chaisson, Richard Chaisson, Paul Gallant, Adrain McMillan, Alphonse Aucoin. The flower bearers were Montana Chaisson and Jaylyn Chaisson. Interment was in the church cemetery with Rev. John Molina officiatin­g. On Sunday evening the members from the Tignish Branch # 6 of the Royal Canadian Legion held a service of remembranc­e for their departed member at 7 p.m. under the direction of Comm Stephen Gallant. The Sgt At Arms was Com Louis Richard. The color party were flag bearers were Com. Jackie Doucette and com. James Doucette. The Last Post and Reveille were sounded.
