The largely attended funeral for the late Glen Joseph DesRoches beloved husband to Lorna Mary( nee Dugay) DesRoches of Tignish, P.E.I., was held on Thursday September 27,2018 from the Rooney Funeral Home & Chapel Alberton to St. Simon and St. Jude Church Tignish was Mass of Con- celebratio­n was celebrated at 4 p.m. by dear friend Rev. Albin Arsenault who delivered the Homily and had the prayers of final commendati­on and farewell. The Co celebrants were Rev. John Molina, Rev. Edward Cormier, Rev. Greg Conway, Rev. Andrew MacDonald. The first reading was addressed by sister in law Lorna DesRoches who also invited the prayers of the faithful. The second reading was addressed by Taylor DesRoches. The Eucharisti­c ministers were James Hogan and Seminarian Walter Flynn. The Crucifer was Clarence Powers and the candle bearers were Charles Bernard and Neil LeClair. The alter server was James Hogan. The choir was under the direction of the cantor Vincent Doucette. The organist was Diane Handrahan. The procession­al hymn was Sing with All the Saints in Glory. The psalm was Rest in God Alone, Rest in God Alone, My Soul, My Soul. The offertory hymn was The Lord’s My Shepherd. The communion hymn was The Peace Prayer. The song of farewell was Songs of the Angels. The recessiona­l hymn was How Great Thou Art. Attending the funeral was her Honor, the LtGov. Antoinette Perry with Aide De Camp Mark Doucette and the Hon.Wade MacLaughli­n with Aide De Camp Floyd Gaudet. Also attending the funeral were the Knights from the M.J. Rooney council of the Knights of Columbus. The 4th degree Knights also held prayers for their departed brother Wednesday evening at 6;45p.m. led by Rev. John Molina and stood Gard at the casket during the visitation. The pallbearer­s were Blair DesRoches, Matthew DesRoches, Lucus DesRoches, Sheldon DesRoches, Tanner Gaudet, Shannan Dugay. The flower bearers were Matthew Glen DesRoches, Candace Dontramont. Logan DesRoches, Shauna Arsenault. Everyone present for the funeral liturgy were considered to be Honorary pallbearer­s. Interment was in the church cemetery with Rev. John Molina and Rev. Albin Arsenault officiatin­g.
