The funeral for the late Mae Melanie Bernard beloved wife of Alyre J. Bernard of Tignish, P.E.I., was held on Wednesday morning September 26,2018 from the Rooney Funeral Home & Chapel Alberton to St. Simon and St. Jude Church Tignish where funeral mass was celebrated at 10:30 a.m. by the Rev. John Molina who delivered the Homily and had the prayers of final commendati­on and fair well. The co celebrant was Rev. Albin Arsenault who proclaimed the Holy Gospel. The first reading was addressed in French by Anne Marie McInnis who also invited the prayers of the faithful. The second reading was addressed by Anne Marie Perry. The Eucharisti­c ministers were Mary Bernard, Beatrice Arsenault and Seminarian Walter Flynn. The choir was under the direction of the cantor Vincent Doucette and the organist was Diane Handrahan. The procession­al hymn was Be Not Afraid. The psalm was The Lord is My Shepherd. The offertory hymn was J ‘Irai la voix un jour. The communion hymn was Like A Shepherd. The song of farewell was Songs of the Angels. The recessiona­l hymn was How Great Thou Art. The pallbearer­s were Ryan Arsenault, Randy Arsenault, Adam Boudreault, Aiden Boudreault, Glen Gaudet, Michael Gaudet. The flower bearers were Ava Boudreault and Keshia Boudreault. Attending the Funeral were residents and staff from the Tignish Seniors Coop Home, members from the Tignish council of the C.W.L and members from the Tignish Branch #6 of the Royal Canadian Ladies Auxiliary. They also formed an honor Gard at the church. Interment was in the church cemetery with Rev. John Molina and Rev. Albin Arsenault officiatin­g. On Tuesday evening the members from the Tignish council of the C.W.L. with members from the St. Felix council of the C.W.L held prayers for their departed member at 5:45 p.m. under the direction of Laureen Handrahan with scripture reading addressed by Linda Perry followed at 6 p.m. by the Tignish Branch # 6 Royal Canadian Ladies Auxiliary who held a service of remembranc­e under the direction of Linda Richard. The hymn Nearer My God to Thee was sung by the members.
