GETSON, MAURICE ALLAN (MOE)

The largely attended funeral for the late Maurice Allan (Moe) Getson of Tignish, P.E.I., was held on Saturday September 29,2018 from the Rooney Funeral Home & E. Gerald Rooney Memorial Chapel Alberton where funeral service was conducted at 3 p.m. by the Rev. Gordon Weatherby who brought words of comfort to the family with his message “They that Go Down to the Sea in Ships”. The first scripture reading from Psalm 46: 1-11 was addressed by sister in law, Angie Gallant. The 2nd scripture reading from 2 Corinthian­s 1:3-7 was addressed by friend Arthur Bernard, The 3rd scripture reading from Psalm 107-23-31 was addressed by niece Isabelle Getson. Words of Remembranc­e were delivered by sister, Charlotte Getson. During the service a duet consisting of Darlene Getson and Catherine Muir (Guitarist) sang ‘Seven Spanish Angels” (A favorite of Moe’s) and “In The Sweet Bye and Bye’. The organist was Darlene Getson. A solo “Cold September Day” was sung by Julie Arsenault (Guitarist) who composed this song the day the men went missing as a tribute to Moe and Glen. The Pallbearer­s were brothers, Ernie Getson, Stewart Getson, Warren Getson, Jamie Gallant, Gordie Getson and brother in law John Peters. The flower bearers were nieces and nephews, Isabelle Getson, James Gallant, Samuel Shaw, Isaac Shaw. Everyone present for the funeral were considered to be Honorary pallbearer­s. Interment was in the Greenmount Church of Christ Cemetery with Rev. Gordon Weatherby officiatin­g.
