Just in time to stock your freezer for the holidays – we are once again holding our very popular frozen pie fundraiser from Oct. 2-16.
LIBRARY
October is Canadian Library Month! Events here at K.R.H.S. include: library trivia (with great prizes) & book recommendations. The library is open every day before school, at breaks, at noon, and after school.
ANNUAL K.R.H.S. HOCKEY POOLS
All selections must be handed in by Oct. 18. Cost: $20 per entry or $30 for 2 entries.
ANNUAL ROTARY YOUTH PARLIAMENT
Grade 12 student Nathaniel Pickering and Grade 11 student Abi Hamilton are representing K.R.H.S. at the Annual Rotary Youth Parliament. This is a unique learning experience for students that allows them to participate in the parliamentary procedures used by the provincial government.
BLAZER CROSS COUNTRY ATHLETES
Cross Country Team - Coach is Trent Ranahan. Zone 2 Cross Country Meet was Oct. 9. Lydia Hamill and Harkirat Singh placed first in the Intermediate division, Abigail Rogers and Colton Lowther placed second in Juvenile, and Brooke McCardle placed 11th in Senior.
THE BLAZER BISTRO
On Oct. 11, the Blazer Bistro (Culinary 801 students) featured Roasted Butternut Squash soup, fresh rolls, and Shepherd’s Pie. Dessert was Apple Crisp served with ADL Vanilla ice cream. All for $3. Culinary specials will be served every Thursday.
ACADEMY DIPLOMA PROGRAM IN AGRICULTURE & BIOSCIENCE
Jessica Reeves facilitates the Academy Diploma Program in Agriculture and BioScience here at K.R.H.S.
The Dalhousie University Agricultural Campus High School Induction Day in Truro, N.S. will be held on Thurs., Oct. 25 for all Grade 11 and 12 ADP students. Students will tour the campus and explore the many programs of studies. They will also participate in a plant science and an animal science hands-on lab in the afternoon. On our way home, we will be touring the new butchery and creamery at Masstown Market.
The Aggies once again spearheaded the Farm Credit Canada Drive Away Hunger Food Drive with the generous support of all K.R.H.S. students and staff. This wrapped up on Oct. 5 when everything was delivered to the South Shore Food Share. This year we collected 1,133 pounds of food.
