Municipalities given choices on ways to cast their vote
Elections P.E.I. is offering eligible voters in the municipalities of Charlottetown, Summerside, Stratford and Cornwall different options for casting their ballot in the Nov. 5 municipal elections.
The mail-in ballot application process has been ongoing since the beginning of October and the deadline to apply is Tuesday, Oct. 23 at 5 p.m. Approved applications will be mailed a ballot for their municipality and ward on Wednesday, Oct. 24.
Voting at the Returning Office is new for these municipal elections. Eligible voters can visit their municipality’s Returning Office and cast their ballot on Oct. 24, 25, 26, 30, 31 and Nov. 1 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Campus voting is an option for students from the four municipalities to vote at UPEI and Holland College Charlottetown and Summerside.
Advance voting begins Saturday, Oct. 27, and continues on Monday, Oct. 29 and again on Friday, Nov. 2, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Ordinary polling day is Monday, Nov. 5 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Registered voters will receive a voter information card in the mail, and each will contain voting information, location and times.
To be eligible to vote a person must be 18 years of age by election day, a Canadian citizen and have resided in Prince Edward Island since May 5; and is ordinarily a resident in the municipality on election day.
