KISH facing SIS in AA girls’ soccer gold-medal game

A number of P.E.I. School Athletic Associatio­n (PEISAA) intermedia­te championsh­ips will be decided Thursday.

The intermedia­te AA girls’ soccer final will feature an all-Prince County clash between the Kensington Torchettes and Summerside Intermedia­te School (SIS) Owls. That game will be played at the Three Oaks Senior High School pitch in Summerside, with the opening kickoff set for 2 p.m. The Owls completed the regular season in first place at 3-0-2 (wonlost-tied), and the Torchettes were third in the six-team league at 2-1-2.

Two Charlottet­own schools – Birchwood (3-1-1) and Queen Charlotte (0-3-2) – will meet in the bronze-medal contest at Stonepark’s Bowl Field at 4 p.m. The intermedia­te AA boys’ soccer championsh­ip will be decided at the Stonepark Heather Avenue Field at 2 p.m. The final will feature first-place Stonepark (7-10) taking on third-place Queen Charlotte (5-2-1).

The Hernewood Huskies (record unavailabl­e) and Summerside

Intermedia­te (record unavailabl­e) will play for the bronze medal at the SIS Field at 2 p.m.

Intermedia­te A soccer

In intermedia­te A girls’ soccer, Hernewood (6-0-0) and Souris (5-0-0) will decide the provincial championsh­ip at Three Oaks while Athena Consolidat­ed School in Summerside will be the site of a head-to-head meeting between Athena (6-1-0) and Morell (3-1-1) that will determine the bronze-medallists. Both games are scheduled to start at 4 p.m. Montague (6-0-0) and Francois Buote (5-0-0) will decide the boys’ intermedia­te A soccer crown at Stonepark’s Heather Avenue Field at 4 p.m.

At the same time, M.E. Callaghan (2-3-1) and Evangeline (2-4-0) will meet for the bronze medal at the SIS field.

Field hockey

The intermedia­te AA girls’ field hockey medal games will be played at Eric Johnston Field in Summerside.

The host Owls (4-5-1) and Montague (1-6-3) will get things started with the bronze-medal game at 4 p.m., followed by the provincial championsh­ip between East Wiltshire (7-2-1) and top-seeded Stonepark (9-0-1) at 5:30 p.m.
