Six Caps and two more Island natives named to Team North for Eastern Canada Cup All-Star Challenge
The Summerside D. Alex MacDonald Ford Western Capitals will be well represented at the Eastern Canada Cup All-Star Challenge.
Six Capitals will suit for Team Eastlink North while head coach Billy McGuigan will hold the same position for the tournament in Quinte West, Ont., from Nov. 19-21. Caps head trainer and equipment manager John Blanchard has been named one of the team’s athletic therapists. Capitals selected were forwards Kallum Muirhead, Brodie MacArthur, TJ Shea and Cam Roberts along with defencemen Brodie MacMillan and Noah Massie.
Two other Prince Edward Islanders were selected to represent the MHL in the Eastern Canada Cup All-Star Challenge. Campbellton Tigers forward Coleton Perry of North Bedeque will suit up with Team North while Yarmouth Mariners goaltender Tyler Caseley of Kensington has been named to Team South.
A total of 12 all-star teams will play a tournament format in Quinte West, Ont., from Nov. 19-21. The teams feature four from the Ontario Junior Hockey League, two teams from each of the Central Canadian Junior Hockey League, Quebec Junior Hockey League, Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League and the MHL (Maritime Junior Hockey League).
The Eastern Canada Cup AllStar Challenge attracts scouts from the National Hockey League, NCAA, Canadian Hockey League (CHL) and the staff of Team Canada East for the World Junior A Hockey Challenge will be identifying players for December’s selection camp.
