MacPherson wins six on Monday’s CDP program

- Compiled by Nicholas Oakes for Red Shores.

Ava MacPherson may only be two weeks old, but her father gave her lots to cheer about as he won half the races on a special Monday evening card at Red Shores at the Charlottetown Driving Park. Corey MacPherson had six wins on the rescheduled program, giving him even more to celebrate about after the recent birth of his second child, Ava. MacPherson started the action off winning with Sailor Blue in 2:03.2 for her fourth win in-a-row for co-owner and trainer Cindy MacDonald and co-owner Yossi Martonovich of Montague. MacDonald and MacPherson also teamed up to win the $1,950 open trot with a 2:01.4 score for Dusty Lane Jacob. The Cornwall driver continued to pile on the wins as he hit the wire first with Dusty Lane Zendaya in 2:00.4 for trainer Stephen Gass of Cornwall, Badlands Giovanna for Stephen Sweet of Springfield West and with Hurricane Hill in 2:01.1 for Joe MacDonald of Breadalbane. Win No. 6 was a family affair as Swingirl, who is trained by MacPherson’s uncle, Kerry Taylor of Stratford, was a front-end winner in 1:59.3. Prettyndangerous claimed the $2,350 fillies and mares open pace with a 1:57.2 mile for driver David Dowling, trainer and co-owner Bo Ford and co-owner Arnold Myers of Charlottetown. West River Ambyr (Steven Shepherd) was second while Collective Wisdom (Drew Neill) was third.

Live racing continues this week at the capital oval on Saturday and Sunday afternoon.
