The funeral for the late Mary Reta Rooney beloved wife of the late E Gerald Rooney of Alberton was held on Monday morning November 19,2018 from the Rooney Funeral Home & Chapel Alberton to the Sacred Heart Church Alberton where funeral mass was celebrated at 10;30 a.m. by the Rev. Andrew MacDonald who delivered the Homily and had the prayers of final commendation and farewell. The first reading from 2 Timothy 4;6-8 was addressed by granddaughter, Mia Lynch The second reading from Ecclesiastes 3;1-8 was addressed by granddaughter, Krista Leard. The prayers of the faithful were invited by granddaughter Terri Nolan. The Eucharistic minister was Jean Cahill. The Crucifer was Irving Broderick and the candle bearers were Joe Callaghan and Emile Bernard. The choir was under the direction of Phyllis Matthews. The organist was Diane Handrahan. The processional hymn was Here I Am Lord. The psalm was To You O Lord I lift up My Soul. The offertory hymn was Be Not Afraid. The communion hymn was The Lord’s My Shepherd. The song of fair well was Songs of the Angels The recessional hymn was Amazing Grace. The pallbearers were David Cahill, Claude Gavin, Troy Leard, Kyle Frizzle, Jarett Rooney, Justin Rooney. The flower bearers were Heidi Henry, Alana Leard, Emma Leard, Eileen Smith, Nancy Leard. Everyone present for the funeral liturgy were considered to be Honorary pallbearers. Interment was in the church cemetery with Rev. Andrew MacDonald officiating.
