Midget Regals sweep games

The Western Regals posted back-to-back wins over the weekend to remain perfect in the P.E.I. Midget AAA Hockey League. The Regals edged the Mid-Isle Matrix 2-1 on Friday night, and then outlasted the Charlottetown-based Central Attack 6-4 on Saturday night. The Regals are now 14-0-0 (won-lost-tied) atop the standings.

In other action, the secondplace Kings County Kings doubled the Pownal Red Devils 6-3 on Friday night.

At the Jacques Cartier Arena in Alberton, Ethan Oliver (2), Conor Horne (1-1), Thomas Shea (1-1, Kalim DesRoches and Chandler DesRoches scored for the Regals. Ethan Reilly (3) and Chase Gaudette (2) had multiple-assist efforts.

Lukas Skinner (3) and Nick Reeves answered for the Attack (3-9-1).

After the first period ended in a 3-3 tie, the Regals took a 5-3 cushion into the second intermission. Aiden Williams earned the goaltending win.

Regals 2 Matrix 1

At the APM Centre in Cornwall, second-period goals by DesRoches (1-1) and Sam Hackett (1-1) proved to be the difference for the Regals.

Lucas Buch answered in the third period for the Matrix (3-73).

Cole Gallant was the winning goaltender.

Kings 6 Red Devils 3

At the Eastern Kings Sportsplex in Souris, Riley Jamieson (2), Jack King (1-2), Jake MacLaren (1-1), Joel MacEachern and Jacob Outhouse found the back of the net for the Kings (9-2-2). Ben MacIsaac and Cam White each added a pair of helpers.

For the Red Devils (4-8-1), Will MacDougall (1-1), Noah Brehaut and Lance Kennedy found the back of the net.

Cole McKeigan chipped in with two helpers.

The Kings held period leads of 2-1 and 5-3.

Winning goaltender was Ben Bruce.
