Finally, a contending NFL team, on the brink of the playoffs, did the unexpected and cut their star running back after a video showed him in a physical altercation with a woman a number of months ago.

Well done Kansas City Chiefs for showing the door to Kareem Hunt.

There is no place in society for this type of behavior, and most times these actions are swept under the rug by NFL teams when involving star players. The Chiefs proved that no one player is above the law and regardless of his talents, doing the right thing is more important than wins. Hopefully, other NFL teams will follow the Chiefs’ lead. Are the Washington Redskins listening?

Sure thing

It’s a must-win road game for the Steelers after losing two straight games. Pittsburgh is in a fight for their playoff lives as the Baltimore Ravens are making a charge. However, a game against the Oakland Raiders is what the doctor ordered to get them turned around. The Black and Yellow beat the Silver and Black. The Los Angeles Chargers are the best team in football that nobody knew about until last Sunday night. Cincy is banged up. The Bolts will score at least 28 points, the Bengals won’t. L.A. wins its 10th game of the season. New Orleans is coming off a road loss in Big D, and what are the chances they lose two in a row against a bad Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ team? Won’t happen, Saints march home with a road win.

Don’t mortgage the house picks

Denver is one of the hottest teams in football, and plays on the road in San Fran. The Broncos just lost Emmanuel Sanders for the season, and now rookie receiver Courtland Sutton will need to step up and be the No. 1 guy. The 49ers will stack the box to shut down running back Phillip Lindsay, but the Broncos do just enough on offence and escape with a win.

Will the real Aaron Rodgers show up this week with new Green Bay Packers coach Joe Philbin? The Atlanta Falcons hope

not as the deck is already stacked against them as this is a road cold-weather game in December. The Freak thinks you will see a recharged Rodgers and Packers’ offence for at least this week. The Pack gets the “W.”

The Chicago Bears lost to the New York Giants, and now face the Los Angeles Rams in windy Chicago. This offence had trouble matching scores with New York’s offence, let alone this Rams’ scoring machine. L.A. gets by the Bears in a cold-weather game. The New England Patriots always have trouble down in sunny Florida, and this time around will be no different. The Miami Dolphins will make this a fourthquarter game, but as the local Fish fans know, Tom Brady will lead a comeback late in the game for a New England win.

It’s offence versus defence as the Kansas City Chiefs host the Ravens. Baltimore can play D while the Chiefs can score. This game is in Kansas City, which is one of the toughest places to play for road teams. Advantage Chiefs. Another big divisional game in Houston for the Indianapolis Colts, who laid an egg in Jacksonville last week. Andrew Luck needs his right arm to do all the talking, but the Texans are playing lights out. This will be close, but Houston pulls it out late in the game.

Flip a Coin

The Arizona Cardinals won its first game ever in cold Lambeau last week and is home to the struggling Detroit Lions. The Cardinals are heading in the right direction, the Lions are not. Take Arizona.

The Carolina Panthers are too good of a team to have lost four in a row and need a win in a bad way on the road in Cleveland. Carolina still has two games left against the Saints, so a victory is vital. Cam Newton leads the Panthers to victory.

Is The Freak seeing this correctly – the Giants are favoured on the road? The last time this happened, two years ago, The Freak had a couple hundred less grey hairs. Washington has Mark Sanchez at quarterback and a banged up offensive line, which will mean a Giants’ road victory. That is hard to believe and write. Minnesota missed a big opportunity last week to narrow the gap in the NFC North standings. They paid quarterback Kirk Cousins a boat load of money to win these type of games, and he needs to play well if they are going to beat the Seattle Seahawks. Seattle is tough at home, and this will come down to the kicking game, which favours the ‘Hawks. A “Sleepless in Seattle” night for the Vikings. Take the Seahawks.

Not sure who will be watching the New York Jets’ road game in Buffalo, but rookie Josh Allen can really run the football for the Bills. However, he is a quarterback and someone they would prefer to be throwing the ball. New York blew a game last week, and won’t be in this game this week. Bills win.
