Larocque leads Metros to victory; Flames, Aces post recent junior C wins

The Sherwood-Parkdale Metros increased their lead atop the Razzy’s P.E.I. Junior C Hockey League standings Saturday by doubling the Southside MacDonald’s Excavation/EF MacPhee Lynx 4-2.

Ethan Larocque had a shorthande­d goal and two assists to pace the Metros while Logan Toole had a goal and an assist. Alex MacEachern and Sam Valois also scored in the win at the South Shore Actiplex while Shawn Corney and Brian Leslie each had an assist.

Alex Taylor scored both goals for Southside with Kyle MacGuigan recording the lone assist. Sumner Docherty made 25 saves for the victory while Caelan Ferguson stopped 35 shots in the loss. 16-2-0 while the Lynx (5-102) are in fourth place.

Flames 5 Crunch 2

Tanner Power (1-1), Zac MacKay (0-2) and Kyle Doucette (0-2) each had two points to lead the North River Flames to a 5-2 victory over the Summerside Cover All Constructi­on Crunch on Saturday at the APM Centre. Griffin Hughes, Connor Andrews, Drew Nelson and Tyson Gillis also scored in the victory while Patrick Young had an assist.

Bret Cheverie and Remi Arsenault scored for Summerside with assists going to Brandon Hastings, Carter Melnick and Tyler Power.

Ryan Clory stopped 21 shots for the victory while Zac DesRoches made 34 saves in the loss. The third-place Flames improved to 6-11-2 while the Crunch (5-12-0) is in the basement, two points back of the Crunch.

Aces 7 Flames 3

Dawson Sellick recorded a hat trick as the Tignish Perry’s Constructi­on Aces defeated the Flames 7-3 on Friday at the Credit Union Arena.

He now has a league-leading 25 goals and 40 points on the season. Will Tuplin and Brayden Arsenault each had a goal and two assists as the second-place Aces improved to 12-5-0. Colton Chaisson and Ryan Campbell also scored for the home side. Keaton Horne had a pair of helpers while Brayden Handrahan, Oliver Smallman, Brandon Forsythe and Morgan Grigg each recorded one.

Andrews, Tanner Hood and Blake Gallant replied for the Flames with assists going to Hughes, Gillis and Ethan MacFadyen. Koby Bridges made 25 stops for the victory while Connor Chapman was peppered with 38 shots in the North River crease.
