Graffiti, impaired driving among RCMP calls

Editor’s Note: A total of 87 occurrence­s were investigat­ed by Prince District RCMP between Dec. 31, 2018, and Jan. 6, 2019. The following is a list of some of the noteworthy incidents and investigat­ions.

Police investigat­ing source graffiti tags

On Dec. 31, at around 8 a.m., West Prince RCMP received a complaint of graffiti on the garage door of the potato warehouse in O’Leary. That same morning, Police also received a complaint of similar graffiti on a container at the harbour in Tignish. Both matters are still under investigat­ion.

RCMP respond to Bloomfield bar

On Jan. 1, 2019 at around 11:30 p.m., West Prince RCMP received a complaint of an intoxicate­d male causing a disturbanc­e at the Route 145 Bar in Bloomfield. The subject of the complaint left without RCMP interventi­on, the matter is still being investigat­ed.

Man arrested for impaired driving

On Jan. 3, at around 2 p.m., East Prince RCMP received a complaint of a vehicle swerving all over the road, eastbound on Route 2 in Springhill. The vehicle was located and stopped. The 30-year-old man driver was arrested for impaired operation. He provided breath samples of over twice the legal limit. He is scheduled to attend court in mid-February.

Man arrested after single

vehicle accident

On Jan. 4, at around 11:15 a.m., East Prince RCMP was called to the scene of a single vehicle collision on Darby Drive in Linkletter. No injuries were reported, however the driver, a 25-year-old male, was arrested after being identified as wanted by Summerside Police Services.
