KISH selects studentathlete of the month.

KENSINGTON – Cassandra MacLeod has been a standout on the volleyball court for the Kensington Torchettes for a number of years.

Her final year of high school was no different.

The 18-year-old daughter of Stavert and Linda MacLeod of Park Corner was recently selected as Kensington-Intermediate-Senior High School’s Greco Pizza/Capt. Sub student-athlete of the month.

Cassandra played the middle position for the Torchettes, who earned the P.E.I. School Athletic Association Senior AAA Girls Volleyball League silver medal in November.

Cassandra was selected a league first-team all-star and received all-star honours at the provincial championship tournament.

“Cassandra is a great offensive player,” said Torchettes head coach Richard Younker. “She is one of the best servers on P.E.I., and is an awesome leader.”

Outside of school, Cassandra plays indoor volleyball with the Red Rock 18-under team. She also competes in beach volleyball in the summer.

Cassandra is also active in school organizations. She is a member of the travel and tourism group and the Grade 12 leadership class, which organizes different events at the school throughout the year.

Following graduation from high school in June, Cassandra’s future plans include studying criminology and playing volleyball at university.
