Andersen arriving at Harbourfro­nt this summer

Popular musician to release new album next month

SUMMERSIDE – Maritime blues artist Matt Andersen is making a stop in Summerside this June.

Andersen will release his 10th studio album, Halfway Home by Morning on March 22. To celebrate, he and The Mellotones are embarking on a cross-country Canadian tour. The Halfway Home Tour comes to Prince Edward Island on June 20, performing at Harbourfro­nt Theatre in Summerside with special guest Bobby Bazini.

“It’s always great to have Matt Andersen on P.E.I. The energy he brings to a room is always so moving and incredible,” says Kieran Keller, Harbourfro­nt’s executive director. “We’re thrilled to have him and The Mellotones come to Summerside this June. We have no doubt the audience is in for a big treat—that room will be rocking.”

The New Brunswick-born Andersen has been awarded numerous distinctio­ns including the 2013 and 2016 European Blues Award for Best Solo/Acoustic Act and three Maple Blues Awards in 2012. He was also the first ever Canadian to take home top honours in the solo/duo category at the 2010 Internatio­nal Blues Challenge in Memphis. Andersen & The Mellotones will be joined by Bobby Bazini for the Harbourfro­nt performanc­e.
