MacKenzie leaving Saltwire as P.E.I. regional president
Resignation related to management reorganization
SaltWire Network Inc. Tuesday announced management changes as a result of a reorganization of its business units.
David MacKenzie has stepped down from his role as regional president for the Prince Edward Island publications.
“We are disappointed to see David leave the company and grateful for his leadership on P.E.I. these last 16 months,” said Mark Lever, CEO of SaltWire Network.
“Under his tenure, advertising and subscription revenue on P.E.I. has remained strong and improvements to the content in The Guardian and Journal Pioneer have been well-received by our readers.”
MacKenzie’s departure comes after the regional president positions have previously been eliminated in Nova Scotia and Newfoundland.
“The business has transitioned from managing a number of regional publications to providing best-in-class editorial content and solutions for advertisers on both our print and digital platforms,” said Lever.
Last month, SaltWire launched its subscriber-focussed digital platforms. All premium, local journalism – both in print and online – is now available only through subscription.
SaltWire operates the largest network of daily and weekly print and digital publications in the region and offers the largest advertising platform for business customers in Atlantic Canada.
“SaltWire Network is in a leadership position amongst Canadian media companies and it has been a pleasure working with the team in P.E.I. as well as throughout Atlantic Canada,” said MacKenzie.
