Prince District RCMP report for March 4 to 10
Editor’s Note: A total of 71 occurrences were investigated by Prince District RCMP between March 4 and 10. The following is a list of some of the noteworthy incidents and investigations:
NEW BRUNSWICK MAN ARRESTED
On March 8, around 6 p.m., East Prince member on patrol observed a vehicle with a New Brunswick licence plate on the back and no front plate. Upon investigation, it was discovered that the plate was stolen.
A 29-year-old man from Riverview, N.B., was charged with possession of stolen property and is scheduled to appear in court in late April.
MAN CHARGED WITH ASSAULT
On March 9, around 1 a.m., West Prince RCMP received a complaint of an assault with a weapon at a property in Alberton. A 26-year-old man has been charged and is scheduled to attend court in early April. The victim was a 22-year-old woman.
ELMSDALE MAN CHARGED WITH ASSAULT
On March 9, around 8 a.m., West Prince RCMP received a 911 call from a 37-year-old woman stating she had been assaulted. Police attended and arrested a 44-year-old man from Elmsdale.
The man was charged with assault and failing to comply a probation order.
NO SERIOUS INJURIES IN MULTI-VEHICLE ACCIDENT
On March 9, around 1 p.m., East Prince RCMP received a call of a two-vehicle collision in Wellington. A 40-year-old man driving a pickup truck hit another vehicle from behind.
There were no serious injuries. The man was issued a ticket under the Highway Traffic Act.
RECAPS AND REMINDERS
During this past week, Prince District RCMP received 14 traffic-related complaints. These complaints mostly pertained to vehicles alleged to be driving erratically and speeding, as well as reports of traffic hazards on the roadway.
RCMP will be continuing to conduct checkpoints throughout the month of March, in various communities across Prince District, targeting cell phone use, seat belts, distracted driving and impaired driving.
