‘Let it Snow’
Approximately 85 club members set to perform at O’Leary Ice Show
O’LEARY – Celebrating a tradition started more than 40 years ago, the O’Leary Figure Skating Club will hold its annual ice show on Saturday, Feb. 8.
This year’s show, Let it Snow, created and choreographed by club coach Julie McNeill, gets underway at the O’Leary Community Sports Centre at 6 p.m.
Preparing and rehearsing for the show is a lot of work said Suzanne Getson who, along with Debbie Lynn Sweet, is co-ordinating this year’s production, but she insists it’s well worth the effort.
“Everyone always leaves the rink so proud of all of our skaters from age three to 18 and beyond. It is a community event many people look forward to year after year,” Getson said.
“It is always so heartwarming seeing the big smiles on the skaters' faces,” Sweet adds.
Club president Lisa Paugh said the O’Leary Figure Skating Club has formed in the late 1970s and has been putting on annual ice shows consistently sine the. Combining both technical and artistic elements of figure skating, the show, she said, provides a fun and entertaining environment for skaters to showcase their skills, and to build their confidence.
The show is approximately two hours in length, including an intermission.
Approximately 85 club members will perform during the show. Synchro teams from the O’Leary club as well as guest appearances by the Rising Stars and the Ice Crystals synchro teams from the Evangeline Club which includes O’Leary skaters, will also display their skills.
