New gazebo in Russell dog park

-

A ceremony was held on Monday, May 30 to unveil the new gazebo installed in the Russell Township dog park, located on Notre-Dame St., between Embrun and Russell. Mayor Pierre Leroux, Russell Township staff, sponsors and community members were gathered to celebrate another addition to the dog park located between Embrun and Russell where Notre Dame meets Castor Street. Russell Township’s Fire Fighters and ByLaw and Public Safety Officers recently spent one day constructing a gazebo in the dog park located between Embrun and Russell.

The park had been closed for a brief period at the end of May to allow workers to build a 12x12 wooden, permanent gazebo inside of the very popular park. This much anticipated and appreciated gazebo gives dogs and their owners a break from extreme weather conditions, especially in the blazing sun that has been out lately.

The cost of the gazebo was paid by a —submitted photo number of sponsors, including Techno Metal Post, Marion Tire Centre, Luc Lavoie Design, Russell Fire Department, LRL Associates Ltd, Embrun Home Hardware Building Center (BMR), Jean-Paul Bruyère, Thérèse Cloutier, Groupe Devcore Group, Burelle Tool Rental and Michel Lefebvre for their contributions.

“The dog park has been a true collaboration and partnership between volunteers, the township and local businesses. The addition of the gazebo will simply add to this very successful park and community hub,” said mayor Pierre Leroux.
