Glorious weather for Poutmaster­s!

The 18th Annual Poutmaster­s Fishing Derby was another great success according to organizers.

In total, 222 adults and youths registered, catching a total of 368 mud pouts between Friday, May 19, and Sunday, May 21.

Every person who caught a fish won a prize. The canoe and kayak were won by Valerie Bourque and Brian Chamberlai­n, respectful­ly.

This year, the Kin Club of Russell partnered with Russell Scotiabank, Canadian Facility Security, Russell Township, Russell Lions, South Nation Conservati­on and Laplante Chrysler Dodge.

In the youth category, the winning fishermen were Evan Houle (768 grams), Bryson Grobelny (690 grams) and Breze Grobelny (686 grams). As for the adults, Jacob Walkden (644 grams) Mike Vidal (620 grams) and Stephen Hynes-Ion (580 grams) were the lucky winners.

Both adult and youth first place winners also won free tickets to see André-Philippe Gagnon and Tara Shannon, in Russell, on Saturday, June 3.
