Nominations open for LaLumière Award
Prescott-Russell United Way is taking nominations now for this year’s La Lumière Community Leadership Award.
Deadline for nominations is Nov. 21. The award commemorates Lucie Brunet, a mentor to many women and organizations in the Prescott-Russell region. As a feminist and humanist, she believed in the importance of being bold, in protesting against injustice without giving up, in giving her time to the community, and in using a collaborative approach to find solutions and resolve conflicts.
Details about both Brunet and the award are available at www.unitedwaypr.ca/LaLumièreAward. The goal of the award program is to encourage others to follow Brunet’s example of leadership and volunteer service.
The inaugural recipient of the 2016 award was Nathalie Lamoureux, a dedicated and engaged volunteer. More details on her contributions to the community are at www.unitedway-pr.ca/2016awardrecipient.
Eligible candidates for the award must be residents of Prescott-Russell, show outstanding community involvement through volunteer work, demonstrate they are able to work well with others for the good of others, and show leadership and initiative in solutions for community needs. Staff and board members of Centraide-United Way Prescott-Russell (CUWPR) and the selection committee are not eligible for nomination.
The nomination form is available at the CUWPR website and may be sent in by mail to Centraide-United Way Prescott-Russell, 134 Main Street East, Office 103, Hawkesbury, ON, K6A 1A3, or email to info@centraideprescottrussell.ca before the Nov. 21 deadline.
