The Embrun Panthers lose one and win one

The Embrun Panthers defeated the Ottawa Canadians but fell short to the Arnprior Packers during last week’s games.

The Panthers squared off against the Ottawa Canadians at the Embrun Arena on Friday, January 12. The Ottawa Canadians opened the scoring early on in the game, with less than two minutes played in the first period. Gabriel Blouin scored an unassisted goal for his team. The Panthers then responded six minutes later with a powerplay goal by Joey Larcher. The first period ended tied 1-1.

The second period was goalless for both teams. The Embrun Panthers then scored early in the third period. Marc Brosseau found the back of the net at two and a half minutes into the third. Noah Haymes and Tristan Whynot assisted the goal that ended up being the game-winning goal. The Panthers defeated the Canadians 2-1.

The Embrun Panthers then played an away game against the Arnprior Packers that ended in a 4-1 loss for the Panthers. The first period was evenly matched, as both teams scored a goal. Marc Brosseau scored a shorthande­d goal for the Panthers, while Hunter Halliday scored an unassisted goal for the Packers.

The Packers then took over the match in the second period and the Panthers were not able to come back from it. Ryan Rivard scored the only goal in the second period for his team, the Packers. He then scored his second of the night five minutes into the third. The Packers ended the game 4-1 with a shorthande­d goal by Dan Hennessy in the last five minutes.

The Embrun Panthers play at home on Friday, January 19 against the Char-Lan Rebels.
