A photos Exhibition to mark the Saguenay floods

To mark the 20th anniversary of the floods that hit the Saguenay region in July 1996, the Bagotville Air Defence Museum is participating in a series of exhibitions that one can see in several locations in Saguenay this summer. Those who want to have a better idea of the role played by the Bagotville Canadian Forces Base during this sad event, can go to the Municipal Library of Chicoutimi until August 31st. The exhibition titled ‘ Fighting the flood’ shows in pictures the work accomplished and the efforts of the military in the summer of 1996. It shows in particular the encampment in Bagotville and evacuees descending f r o m h e l i c o p t e r s . The team from the Bagotville Air Defence Museum searched through the photo albums of 439 Squadron and its own archives to select the photos that best tell the story of this natural disaster.
