First visit to Bagotville for Minister Sajjan

On August 26, CFB Bagotville hosted the Defence Minister, S. Harjit Sajjan, accompanied by Parliamentary Secretary for Defence, John McKay and the MP for Chicoutimi- Le Fjord, Denis Lemieux.

It was the first visit to Bagotville for Mr. Sajjan since his appointment as Minister of Defence.

During a private meeting held at the headquarters of the Base, the minister attended presentations by the two Bagotville Wing commanders, Colonels Molstad and Boucher, as well as few key unit commanders, who took the opportunity to share with elected officials.

After that meeting, the minister also quickly visited the base incliding the restricted area to become more familiar with the NORAD mission sustained by CFB Bagotville. Subsequently, the Minister of Defense met with Bagotville’s staff at a Townhall in Hangar 7.

Minister Sajjan concluded his visit by announcing an investment of $ 1.2 million in a green infrastructure and clean technology project to improve the performance and energysaving efficiency of CFB Bagotville facilities.

Two buildings have already been identify for this investment, the Sports center and Hangar 6.
