Tigers from 439 Squadron in Northern Canada
The last month has been busy for the Tigers from 439 Squadron who participated in two exercises in only a few weeks.
From 19 to 23 September, 439 Squadron took part in a national scale search and rescue exercise, the 2016 SAREX, held this year in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories. SAREX 2016 highlights the importance of participa- tion in specialized missions and realistic training in search and rescue to ensure that crews are ready to respond to Canadians in distress. Taking advantage of the fact that they were already deployed in the north of the country, members of 439 Squadron extended their trip by nearly a month in the Northwest Territories and Yukon to hold their own mountain flying exercise. The crew consisted of nine members of the Squadron ( 2 pilots, 1 flight engineer, two technicians and four search and rescue technicians), who reached these northern areas of Canada aboard a CH- 146. A long journey from Bagotville! In September, the squadron also participated in two local search and rescue missions in support of the Sûreté du Québec. October promises to be just as busy for the Tigers!
