Groundbreaking ceremony to launch construction

On behalf of the Minister of Defence, Harjit S. Sajjan, the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Defence, Jean Rioux, and the Member for Chicoutimi– Le Fjord, Denis Lemieux, participated in a groundbreaking ceremony to mark the beginning of construction work of two new buildings will be constructed at 3 Wing Bagotville. These buildings will be used by the Transportation and Electrical and Mechanical Engineering ( TEME) sections of the Wing. The TEME team is responsible for supporting base operations, especially the maintenance of heavy snow removal vehicles and maintenance of runways. These multi- functional and modern buildings will provide more work space to the sections, making their activities more rapid and efficient. "3 Wing is one of the most important bases in the Air Force. The new buildings will help ensure that our women and men in uni- form continue to support domestic and international operations at all times. Defence infrastructure projects like this also provide avenues for economic growth for local businesses by creating jobs in the region", said Defence Minister Harjit S. Sajjan, in news release. The contract for the construction of the two buildings and the deconstruction of the old buildings was awarded to Cegerco Inc. of Chicoutimi ( Quebec), with a value of $ 46.9 million.
