2 Wing has a New Commander

-

Colonel Luc Guillette became the third commander of 2 Wing Bagotville, succeeding Colonel Luc Boucher who held the position for two years.

The Change of Command ceremony was held on July 26th, 2017 at Canadian Forces Base Bagotville in Hangar 7. The troops paraded with weapons and swords before the reviewing officer, MajorGeneral Christian Drouin, Commander of 1 Canadian Air Division.

For his last speech, Colonel Boucher took care to thank the military for their work and sacrifices. "I was impressed with the determination and leadership that the members of 2 Wing demonstrated," he said. "Thanks to them, 2 Wing has contributed to more than a dozen missions and exercises in Canada and elsewhere in the past year alone."

Despite the fact that 2 Wing was created mainly to support expeditionary air operations abroad, domestic operations are now part of its repertoire. 2 Wing coordinated air operations during the floods in Que- bec last May and is currently also doing so in British Columbia to help fight forest fires.

Returning from a mission where he commanded the Canadian Air Force during Operation IMPACT, Col Guillette said: "I am confident in the abilities of the members of 2 Wing to continue to support air missions, as they have done for my own mission in the past. My mission now is to direct them to bring 2 Wing to an even higher level of readiness so they can continue to project the power of the Royal Canadian Air Force into the world."
