Veteran Family Program at MFRC
Since April 1, 2018, the Bagotville MFRC has put at the disposal of Canadian Armed Forces members in the process of release for medical reasons and medically released veterans ( 3B release) as well as their families the Veteran Family Program ( VFP).
The VFP includes some tools, workshops, programs and community integration, referral and intervention services of various natures to ease their transition toward civilian life. After the success achieved by the Veteran Family Program pilot project established in 2015 in seven Canadian Military Family Resource Centres ( MFRCs), the Honourable Seamus O’Regan, Minister of Veterans Affairs and Associate Minister of National Defence, announced last March 15th the introduction of this program within 32 Canadian MFRCs through financial support valued at 147 million dollars spread out over six years. Considering the fact that MFRCs act as a forum for military communities, the inclusion of both veterans and their families in our programs and services constitutes a natural extension of the range of services offered daily. As a whole, the arranging and development of the VFP lie within the spirit of recognition of the role played by military families with their loved ones who work or have worked within the Canadian Armed Forces. If you are part of this targeted clientele, please be aware that the Bagotville MFRC offers you customized accompaniment services through the Veteran Family Program Coordinator, who can help you to better face the unique challenges that underlie such a lifestyle change.
