A new course tes­ted by 2 Wing

2 Air Ex­pe­di­tio­na­ry Squa­dron ( 2AES) conduc­ted the Air­field Ac­ti­va­tion Surge Team ( AFAST) re­con­nais­sance course from Sep­tem­ber 24th to Oc­to­ber 5th. A to­tal of 14 mem­bers from 2 Wing Ba­got­ville and Tren­ton were for­tu­nate to par­ti­ci­pate in this trai­ning ac­ti­vi­ty.

This course, which was de­ve­lo­ped by 2 AES’S trai­ning team, was tes­ted this year as a pi­lot pro­ject to make it a na­tio­nal qua­li­fi­ca­tion. It will be used to en­sure that mem­bers of 2 Wing and, and in the fu­ture, the Royal Ca­na­dian Air Force ( RCAF) are al­ways rea­dy to de­ploy qui­ck­ly to per­form re­con­nais­sance of po­ten­tial sites for the pro­jec­tion of Ca­na­da's air po­wer. Par­ti­ci­pants be­ne­fi­ted from the ex­per­tise of 2 AES ob­ser­vers to coach them throu­ghout the trai­ning. These ex­pe­rien­ced mem­bers came from a range of dif­ferent mi­li­ta­ry trades wi­thin the forces who spe­cia­lize in the stu­dy of Ca­na­dian air ex­pe­di­tio­na­ry doc­trine and they en­su­red its im­ple­men­ta­tion du­ring trai­ning.
