To Improve Employability
For military spouses, finding a fulfilling and flexible job that match their skills and interests, in addition to being transferable in the event of relocation to a new community can be challenging! For this reason, last October, the Military Family Services have launched two initiatives to ease the professional integration and relocation within Canada of military spouses. Inventory of Casual Employment for Military Spouses
The first initiative is the creation of an inventory produced in partnership with the Department of National Defence to make a connection between military spouses and federal public service recruiters looking for qualified and experienced employees. The simplified registration and application form provides access to temporary employment for 90 business days or less per calendar year, within inclusive workplaces that are aware of the reality of military families.
Military Spousal Employment Network
This Web platform provides several tools and activities, including a bulletin board displaying job opportunities and online or in- person job fairs attended by employers affiliated to the Network from across the country. These employers are aware of the challenges posed by the unique lifestyle of military families. By joining the Network, they commit to give a fair chance of being hired to military spouses, and to ease their transfer from one branch to another, whenever possible. Your MFRC’s Employment Assistance Services Of course, these new initiatives are only complementary to the wide range of employment assistance services already offered in the MFRCs. These services are available to military family members and medically released veterans and their families.
