BRITISH MAN HONOURED FOR LIVING AS GOAT IN SWISS ALPS FOR THREE DAYS

-

BOSTON A British researcher who lived like a goat in the Swiss Alps has won the biology prize at the Ig Nobels, the annual spoof prizes for quirky scientific achievement.

“I tried to become a goat to escape the angst inherent in being a human,” Tom Thwaites wrote on his website. “I ended up in the Alps, on four legs, at a goat farm, with a prosthetic rumen strapped to my chest, eating grass, and becoming a goat.”

Thwaites shared the victory with Charles Foster, of the University of Oxford, who spent months mimicking a badger, an otter, a fox, a deer.
