Hurricanes-Hitmen:
The Lethbridge Hurricanes welcome the Calgary Hitmen tonight at 7:00pm at the ENMAX Centre. The Hurricanes and Hitmen have met five times this season with the Hurricanes holding the edge in the season series. Tonight is the final of six meetings on the season.
First of 3:
Tonight will be the first of a three game home stand for the Hurricanes. With tonight’s game included, the ‘Canes only have four regular season games left. The Hurricanes are 19-1-1-1 in their last 22 games at the ENMAX Centre and have posted a home ice record of 24-6-2-1 on the season.
Race to 50:
Heading into the weekend, Hurricanes Captain Tyler Wong led the entire WHL in the goals with 49. It has been a while since the Hurricanes had a 50goal scorer. In fact, the last ‘Cane to eclipse the 50 goal mark was in 1997-1998 when Shane Willis tallied 58 goals.
Important Points:
Every game is important for the Calgary Hitmen. The perennial playoff team is on the bubble and in danger of missing the post-season. Heading into the weekend, Calgary sat four points back of Red Deer for third in the Central and three points back of Saskatoon for the final Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference.
The Gennaro Way:
Winnipeg Jets prospect Matteo Gennaro has been outstanding for the Calgary Hitmen this season. Gennaro entered the weekend with 40 goals on the campaign. He scored over twenty goals in the month of January alone. He has shattered his total from last season when he only scored 18 goals.
Fan Appreciation Night:
It should be a packed house tonight at the ENMAX Centre as the Hurricanes will be holding their annual Fan Appreciation Night. The night will include special fan giveaways and full-team autographs following the hockey game!
