• The Ladies Auxiliary Royal Canadian Legion will hold its monthly meeting May 9 at 1 p.m. at the Legion, 324 Mayor Magrath Drive S. (use north door). This meeting is being held in the afternoon to try to attract some of the shut-ins and ladies who don’t like to drive at night; the auxiliary’s numbers are slowly dwindling and its members would hate to see the L.A. fold. At the meeting there will be strawberry shortcake and a beverage, free of charge. • University of Lethbridge’s School of Liberal Education will present a virtual lecture by Edward Snowden, the whistleblo­wer who leaked classified informatio­n from the National Security Agency, May 9 from 4:30-9 p.m. in the University Theatre. Snowden will discuss the state of cybersecur­ity and surveillan­ce. A question-and-answer session moderated by Harold Jansen follows the lecture. • Pop in Lots with Moms and Tots, a group for moms and tots (dads, grandparen­ts and child-minders, too) meets Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10 a.m.-noon at VIA Church, 2820 18 Ave. N. • LSCO Karaoke Club is looking for new singers to join the club in preparatio­n for their October Fall Concert. The club meets every Tuesday from 1-3 p.m. at the LSCO, 500 11 St. S. There is an extensive library with all the words on the screen. • La Leche League meets monthly (typically the second Tuesday of each month) and provides breastfeed­ing support and research-based informatio­n to pregnant and breastfeed­ing mothers. (no meetings in June, July, August and Sept.) • Prairie Tractor and Engine Museum Society holds a directors’ meeting the second Wednesday of the month at 7:30 p.m. in the Kleeman Building at the Pioneer Village of Coyote Flats on Prairie Tractor property (1.5 km south of Picture Butte High School on Highway 843). An open discussion session immediatel­y follows the meeting. • University of Lethbridge presents the Brenda Milner Lecture Series, featuring “The Addicted Brain” May 11 at 7 p.m. at the Lethbridge Lodge (Aspen Room). Dr. Anthony Phillips, a renowned authority in addiction psychiatry and professor at the University of British Columbia, will give a free public lecture about the neurologic­al basis of mental illness and addiction. • Revellers Dinner and Games Night will be held Thursday, May 11 (note change of day) at the basement level at The Keg (Country Kitchen Catering) on Mayor Magrath Drive South. Facility is wheelchair accessible. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., dinner at 6:30. Cost is $20 per person. Newcomers, are you a crib or whist enthusiast? Come for a great dinner and a night of cards.
