Hoping FOR A HOME

MATCHING PETS WITH PEOPLE

-

Violet is a shy, gentle kitten who needs a special home. She came to the Humane Society in the summer of 2016 and presently lives in a foster home. Violet has taken a long time to accept people and is still terribly shy, but when she feels safe with you she purrs up a storm and lets you pat her soft, soft fur. She is going to take time to settle in to new circumstances, but she’s such a little doll that it will be well worth the wait!

If you are interested in meeting Violet, you can visit her at the Lethbridge Humane Society (2920 16 Ave. N. or call 403-3208991). To view other Haven pets, go to www.lethbridgehumanesociety.com and click on the Available Pets link. Also check out the Lethbridge and District Humane Society on Facebook.

Come to Homes Alive today between noon and 3 p.m. and meet Phantom. Phantom, you see, is ready. This three-year-old black-and-white fellow had a home, but was surrendered. He had never lived with other cats, and may have forgotten what they were, but he was ready for a few new friends. In his foster home, he watched, and then joined in on the family fun. And Phantom is ready for his own people. He loves humans, and enjoys showing it by snuggling — on a face, a lap, on out-stretched legs. When he sees new people, he wonders if these are the ones, the humans who will love him forever and keep him safe. He’s ready for that and waiting to meet you today. Call PAW at 403-328-6700, or fill out an adoption inquiry form at www.pawsociety.com. Find out if you are ready for Phantom.

The Last Chance Cat Ranch has many cats in need of adoption and foster. Franklin is an older gentleman who has been waiting patiently for his forever home. He gets along with other cats and does not mind dogs. Grateful for the comforts of home, a nice bed to sleep in and his favourite food, he would make a wonderful member of a family who enjoys the company of an older cat. Relying on the support of our community, volunteers, donors, adopters and fosters, we continue to care for 41 cats in rescue. We are pleased to announce that two of our special-needs cats, Henderson and Vinnie, have been adopted into homes where they will be cared for and loved. Thanks to their rescuers, these boys will have happy lives. This is what we want for all of our cats in rescue. Thank you to everyone who supports our rescue efforts.

Purrfect Endings Rescue is devastated over the loss of Taylor this past week and we would like to share his story. He was a sad example of how we humans had failed him. I had seen his picture on Facebook. He had been taken to the pound in another city and he was the face of suffering and despair. After much debate I decided to help him. A kind lady brought him to Lethbridge and dropped him off at Green Acres Animal Hospital. He had a huge infected wound on his neck, a gash on his leg as well as many other health problems. However, I wanted to give him a chance. He deserved it. Looking at him, you could tell it had been a long time since he had been shown any kindness. Despite every effort to save him, Taylor was too sick and too weak. The most heartbreaking thing is that he died before we got a chance to see him, hold him or show him his life did matter and that he would be loved and cared for. Thank you to Dr. Lloyd and her caring staff for trying to help him. Soleil’s bladder surgery and our efforts to save poor Taylor have left us owing a huge amount at Green Acres Animal Hospital. We are in great need of help and no amount is too small. Call Linda (403-3819269) or Sam (403-382-0977) for more information. We are also on Facebook.

Carlos is a five-year-old Chihuahua cross. He is happy and confident. He loves to go for walks and is very happy to entertain himself with every sight and smell you pass. Carlos is the kind of dog that is happy doing whatever you want. He has the energy and stamina to keep up with almost anyone. He is quiet in the house and is housetrained as well as crate-trained. He loves to play fetch and is great at returning the toy directly to your hand or lap.

Carlos doesn’t know a lot of obedience commands (his foster home is working on that!) but he’s not very high-maintenance despite that. He loves food and is a fast learner so we know he’ll have the house rules memorized in no time. Carlos is great with other dogs but he would do best in a quieter household with no children. Call 403-359-3139 for more information on the adoption process, fees or volunteering. Visit www.windycityrescue.com.
