PBA going for seventh CCBC title

The Prairie Baseball Academy will go for their seventh consecutiv­e Canadian College Baseball Conference championsh­ip today.

Tanner Jesson-Dalton went the distance on the hill for the PBA as Lethbridge blanked the University of the Fraser Valley Cascades 6-0 in the semifinals Saturday night in Kelowna and will play in the final today at 2:30 p.m. local time.

Jesson-Dalton only surrendere­d four hits while walking one and striking out six.

At the plate, leadoff hitter and shortstop Dylan Flasch was 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI, including a leadoff home run in the bottom of the first inning.

Right fielder Eric Davies also chipped in at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI.

The PBA will face the winner of this morning’s game between the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack and the Okanagan College Coyotes, who play at 11 a.m., local time.

On Friday night, the PBA were handed their first loss of the week with a 6-3 loss to the Okanagan College Coyotes.

The Coyotes opened a 3-0 lead after the fouth inning before Lethbridge scored twice in the botton of the fifth to cut the lead to 3-2.

Okanagan College went up 4-2 in their half of the seventh inning, but the PBA pulled within one with a run in the eighth to make it 4-3.

The Coyotes salted away the win in the top of the ninth with a pair of runs to round out the scoring.

The PBA put up seven hits in the loss as Austin Schibler went 2-for-4 with one run scored.

Chris Messer took the loss for Lethbridge, going seven innings and allowing four runs on seven hits, walking four and striking out six.
