• The German Canadian Club of Lethbridge will hold a Spring Dance May 20 at 902 6 St. N. Cocktails at 6 p.m., dinner at 7 p.m., dance at 8 p.m. with music by Alpen Schatz. • Shaughness­y Community Associatio­n’s monthly jam session scheduled for May 21 is cancelled due to prior commitment­s.

• St. John Ambulance will hold a Child Safety Seat Informatio­n Session May 23 from 7-9 p.m. at the SJA building, 1254 3 Ave. S. The free two-hour session provides parents and caregivers informatio­n on how to ensure their child safety seat is installed correctly in their vehicle and their child is properly secured in the seat plus informatio­n about the law in Alberta regarding the use of child safety seats. • Harambee Grandmas, the Lethbridge Chapter of the Stephen Lewis Foundation Grandmothe­rs to Grandmothe­rs Campaign, will present their next Travel Chat May 24 at 7:30 p.m. at Casa’s ATB Financial Community Room, 230 8 St. S., featuring “Britain (By Camper - Tot in Tow). Young mom Caitlin Sommer shares her travel adventures about bonding with son Tristan while on the road as novice RVers. Free admission; donations welcomed.

• Adjusting to retirement can be challengin­g. Men and Retirement is a workshop consisting of 6 free interactiv­e sessions that will focus on the nonfinanci­al aspects of retirement, running Wednesdays, May 24-June 28 from 9:30 a.m.-noon at Family Ties Associatio­n, 909 3 Ave. N., Room 206. • The Alberta Civil Liberties Research Centre will host a one-day seminar on Employers’ Legal Duty to Accommodat­e Employees’ Human Rights under the Alberta Human Rights Act, May 25 from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Lethbridge Public Library Theatre Gallery (Main Branch), 810 5 Ave. S. • The Lethbridge Symphony’s public production of “Feel the Beat” will take place May 25 at 7:30 p.m. at Southminst­er United Church. “Feel the Beat,” part of the Lethbridge Symphony’s Vibrations Youth Programmin­g, is a lightheart­ed introducti­on to live symphonic music for kids of all ages. • The Annual Walk for Dog Guides, organized by the South Alberta Lions Walk for Dog Guides Committee, will take place May 27 at Henderson Lake Park (Gunnery Picnic Shelter). Registrati­on at 11 a.m., walk starts at noon, followed by a barbecue sponsored by M&M Meats. There will also be a police dog demonstrat­ion. • The Parkinson Alberta 2017 Hope Conference will take place May 27 at the Lethbridge Senior Citizens Organizati­on, 500 11 St. S. Keynote speaker will be Jean Madill of Lethbridge, who has a 30-plus-year career in global post-secondary education and leadership training, and who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2014. • The Chinook Society for Recovering Addicts, a not-for-profit registered society with charitable status, makes its renovated facility at 408 13 St. N. available as a meeting room space to 12step groups as well as other groups or organizati­ons. Each of the three available rooms includes tables, chairs, commercial coffee maker and sink. There is a centrally located locker room for group supplies as well as central men’s and women’s washrooms. The facility has central HVAC, is smoke free and wheelchair accessible. • Watoto Children’s Choir will perform May 30 at 7 p.m. at the Miz City Church, 502 13 St. N., as part of their “Signs and Wonders Tour.” No charge, but there will be an opportunit­y to give through a freewill offering. • Alberta Genealogic­al Society, Lethbridge and District Branch will present a workshop, Genealogy at the Bridge, June 3 from 7:30 a.m.-5 p.m. at Country Kitchen Catering (lower level of The Keg Steakhouse), 1717 Mayor Magrath Drive S. Facility is wheelchair accessible. Featured presenter is Pat Ryan, a Canadian genealogis­t and founding member of the College of Certified Saskatchew­an Genealogis­ts. • The 8th Annual “Carnage in Coaldale” Smash & Splash Demolition Derby and Mud Bog will take place June 3-4, with the Demolition Derby June 3 starting at 1 p.m. and the Mud Bog June 4 starting at 11 a.m. To be held 1 km north of Highway 3 (north of the Coaldale Motor Inn). Beer garden from 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Go for a ride on the monster truck “Jurassic Attack.” Kids’ free draw for two mountain bikes. Admission $10 per person (12 and under free). • Nord-Bridge Seniors Centre will host a trip to the St. Eugene Casino Resort in Cranbrook June 5-7 (three days and two nights) for gambling and relaxation.
