Jumping Josh gets revenge

- J.W. Schnarr LETHBRIDGE HERALD

ougar Meat” Kyle Sebastian of the Adult Social Society thought he was about to win the Monster Pro Wrestling Tag Team Championship.

A barnburner of a Main Event on Saturday between reigning champs The Shark Club and the Society saw wrestlers being flung into the crowd — in some cases, fans themselves being used as weapons — should have ended when Sebastian hit “Wildchild” Tyler James with a Pantydropper and went for the three-count. But no count came. Instead, he looked up and saw the referee standing over him, shaking his head.

It was Jumping Josh, and he was about to get his revenge.

The underdog hero of the March Power Rumble who won fans over with the vicious beating he took had concocted a plan so insidious, it was on par with the infamous destruction of the One World Empire by Bulldog McBain.

That plan came to fruition when James rolled up Sebastian, and Josh hit a blazing fast three-count before bolting from the gym — with Sebastian hot on his heels.

Josh had looked at the March Power Rumble and the opportunity for a title shot as a chance for him to make a name for himself in PPW.

“I thought, ‘It’s my time to shine,’” he said. “So why not?”

“But Kyle Sebastian cost me that opportunity. So I decided I’d cost him an opportunity at some gold.”

Josh started planning his revenge the night after the Power Rumble.

“I was laying in bed thinking it wasn’t very fair,” he said. “So I took a shot to see what happens.”

Sebastian said he is looking forward to getting his hands on Josh at the PPW event in June.

“I’m gonna make an example out of this kid,” he said. “On June 24, I get him one-on-one in that ring And if he wants to be a wrestler, if he wants PPW gold, if he wants the notoriety, and to be famous, he’s gotta go through me.

“I’m a 10-year veteran of this game. I’m not going to let some little punk kid referee interfere with my championship reign.”

“I’m going to go guns blazing, and we’ll see what happens,” Josh said.

The night also saw Travis “The Heat” Copeland take full advantage of his title shot against Cyanide and become the new Cruiserweight champion.

It was a match that saw Cyanide’s manager “The Blackheart” Vinnie Valentine in a dog collar with a leash held by Olympic boxing legend Rick Duff – a man who has had an ongoing feud with Cyanide and Valentine.

“When I hear Rick Duff coming to the ring, I think of one thing only – a washed up Olympic champion. He has too many hits to the head,” said Valentine. “He doesn’t even know his left from his right anymore.

“He’s just like Bulldog. That’s why they make a good pair. They’re both twits.”

Copeland said he was still getting used to the idea of being the new champion.

“Being a champion is pretty much why you get involved in this business to start with,” he said.

“It feels good, but it’s a little surreal right now.”

The third title match of the evening saw “The Headline” Shaun Martens was in tough against Heavyweight Champion “The Tattooed Terminator” Massive Damage. The Champ hit his spear and was able to pin Martens clean.

The featured grudge match between the newly-formed Trump Foundation against Kato and Kid Cyrus ended in shock and scandal as Kato turned on his partner and appeared to join the Trump Foundation.

Kid Cyrus then had to be rescued by “The Cheetahbear” Jude Dawkins and the Irishman – lining up a triple threat match next month.

In the undercard, Dawkins and The Irishman locked horns in a match that seemed even until Chris Perish arrived to continue tormenting The Irishman. The distraction allowed Dawkins a chance to beat The Irishman. Afterward, the two shook hands in a display of sportsmanship.
