Bulls get past the Giants

following an 11-10 win Friday night in which Lethbridge rallied from a 9-5 deficit to post the win.

The teams wrap up the weekend today with an afternoon game at 2 p.m. at Spitz Stadium.

After three scoreless innings, the Giants were first on the scoreboard in the fourth inning with a pair of runs.

Ryan Villarreal advanced to first on a fielder’s choice, moved to second on a passed ball and scored on a Max Hewitt single for a 1-0 lead,

Fort McMurray added one more before the inning was over when Joshua Iannetti scored on a single from Tyler Friis.

But the Bulls cut that lead in half in the bottom of the fifth when Nolan Handley led off the inning with a single and eventually scored on a single from Brett Semeniuk to make it 2-1.

The Giants got their two-run lead back in the top of the sixth inning when Ryan Dunn scored on a Keegan Marsden sacrifice hit, but the Bulls battled back in their half of the sixth inning.

Brett Brittany doubled to lead off the inning, advanced to third on a passed ball and scored on an Alex Bishop sacrifice fly to make it 3-2.

Lethbridge then tied it when Handley doubled to score Carter Witbeck — who had walked earlier in the inning — and then scored on a passed ball to make it 4-3 after six innings.

The Bulls added some insurance in the eighth when Bishop doubled to lead off and advanced to third on a single from Handley.

Bishop then crossed the plate on a Brock Frentzel sacrifice.

Ben Erwin earned the win for Lethbridge, coming on in the sixth inning, giving up no runs or hits, walking one and striking out one.

Chris Stodolka came on in the ninth to pick up the save, giving up one hit and striking out one.

Brady Moxham got the start for the Bulls Saturday night, going four and one-third innings, giving up two runs on three hits, walking six and fanning six.

Brittany, Bishop and Handley each had doubles Saturday night, their second of the season on a night when the hosts put up 10 hits.

Handley went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and on RBI. He is batting .615 in the earlygoing of the season.

Bishop had the other multihit game, batting 2-for-3 with one run scored and one RBI.
