Charges may be resolved for man, woman in drugs, stolen property case next week
A man and woman found unconscious two months ago and subsequently charged with drug offences may resolve their matters when they return to court next week.
Police, fire and EMS personnel responded to a suspected overdose April 13 at a garage in the 1200 block of 9 Avenue North, where they found an unconscious man and woman and transported them to hospital.
Police noticed drugs in plain sight and the home was secured while police obtained a search warrant. Officers seized drugs worth $84,517, including 300 oxycodone pills, 356 grams of methamphetamine and 248 grams of powder cocaine. They also found small amounts of crack cocaine, fentanyl, heroin, cash and stolen property worth about $30,000.
The stolen items include a motorcycle, power tools, new space heaters, a fireplace, jewelry, pot lights, flooring, assorted electronics and a guitar.
Padan Cassidy Ashcroft, 29, was charged with numerous criminal offences including drug possession, drug possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of stolen property and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. He was in Lethbridge provincial court Friday where he appeared by closed-circuit TV from the Lethbridge Correctional Centre.
The accused was prepared to deal with is charges Friday, but they were adjourned to Monday after the Crown said he needed to deal with a few “hiccups” first.
Christina Lynn Guest, 30, was charged with multiple counts of drug possession and drug possession for the purpose of trafficking, as well as single counts of unauthorized possession of a weapon and carrying a concealed weapon.
Guest, who may also resolve her charges Monday, has been recovering and receiving treatment in Calgary and has been unable to attend court.
