• A public consultati­on on a private member’s bill regarding Henson trusts will be held June 10 from 1-3 p.m. at the Fritz Sick Centre (Lethbridge Senior Citizens Organizati­on), 500 11 St. S., hosted by Brian Malkinson, MLA for Calgary-Currie. A Henson trust, or “absolute discretion­ary trust,” is designed to protect the assets (typically an inheritanc­e) of persons with disabiliti­es. Everyone is welcome to attend.

• Nature Play Day will take place June 10 from 12–4 p.m. at Henderson Lake. This fun family festival includes: outdoor games, pond dipping, hammocks, kayaking, cloud watching, live music and more. • The Park-Wide Garage Sale at Parkbridge Estates, 2920 29 Ave. S., will be held June 10 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Everyone welcome.

• Lethbridge Recycling Roundup will take place June 10 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the London Drugs parking lot. Citizens can recycle Electronic­s, small appliances, CFL light bulbs, fluorescen­t tubes (up to 4 feet), alkaline and rechargeab­le batteries, inkjet and laser cartridges, plastic and cardboard packaging, nonfood-related styrofoam, household scrap metal (accepted by National Salvage), used/expired child car seats (accepted by Kidseat Recyclers; There is a $10 levy per car seat. All fabric must be removed before drop-off. The event will also accept donations of items that can be reused by local charities.

• The Annual London Road Family Fair will take place June 10 from 1-4 p.m. at Kinsmen Park, 8 Avenue and 10 Street South. Everyone welcome. Free Canada birthday cake for the first 150 people; also bouncy castles, live music, face-painting, puppet shows, magician, show and shine car show. All free except for the food. • Lethbridge Public Library will host Comic Con June 10 at the Crossings Branch, 255 Britannia Blvd. West, featuring a superhero storytime for younger fans at 10 a.m.; an all-ages screening of Marvel’s “The Avengers” at 11 a.m. (with popcorn); panels featuring southern Alberta comic creators Eric Dyck and Natalie Asplund at 1 p.m.; and a cosplay contest at 2 p.m. open to anyone who wants to dress up as their favourite character. Also pop-up shops from Kapow, the University of Lethbridge Bookstore, and Round Table Board Gamerie, and more.

• Summer Night Dance will be held June 10 at the German Canadian Club of Lethbridge, 902 6 St. N., featuring the German Ladies Choir from Calgary and DJ dance music by Prime Entertainm­ent. Cocktails at 6 p.m., dinner at 7 p.m., choir at 8 p.m., dance at 9 p.m. Dinner is wiener schnitzel (pork tenderloin), mashed potatoes and vegetables. Tickets $25 per person. • Trigeminal Neuralgia Support Group meets the second Saturday of the month at 2 p.m. in Room C and D at the LSCO, 500 11 St. S. Trigeminal neuralgia is a neuropathi­c disorder characteri­zed by episodes of intense pain in the face, originatin­g from the trigeminal nerve. Individual­s with TN and their family members are invited to attend meetings. • The Lethbridge and District Horticultu­ral Society has joined with other groups to host Canadian Garden Day events June 11 at the Galt Museum and Helen Schuler Nature Centre. Enjoy learning about native plants, walking tours in the coulees, and an open xeriscaped garden at 625 18 St. S. Both native plants and local artists' botanical art will be available for purchase. Guest speaker Linda Pogoda from Carstairs will speak on “He Almost Missed His Chance,” telling about the hope in her life even with an alcoholic father and the devastatin­g effects it had on him and his family. • Ladies Auxiliary to the Royal Canadian Legion will hold a Fun Night

June 13 starting at 5 p.m. at the Legion, 324 Mayor Magrath Drive S. (north door, please). Pot-luck dinner served at 6 p.m.; bring your favourite dish. • Alberta Party Lethbridge West Constituen­cy Associatio­n will hold its Annual General Meeting to elect new officers June 13 at 7 p.m. in the Friendship Room, Crossings Branch Library, 255 Britannia Blvd. W. At 7:30, Troy Wason, former executive director of the PC party, will speak on why he left the PC party to join the Alberta Party. Free admission, all are invited to attend both meetings.

• Revellers Dinner and Games Night will be held June 14 at the basement level of The Keg (Country Kitchen Catering) on Mayor Magrath Drive South. Facility is wheelchair accessible. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., dinner at 6:30. Cost: $20 per person. Newcomers - are you a crib or whist enthusiast? Come for a great dinner and a night of cards. • A Homemade Lasagna Dinner will take place June 16 starting at 5 p.m. at the Barons Community Hall, 209 Noble St. in Barons. Event is a fundraiser for Barons Memorial United Church. $10 per person (children under 6 free). Includes salad, buns and dessert.

• Great Canadian Plains Railway Society will host the annual Father’s Day BBQ and Railway Speeder rides June 18 from 12-4 p.m. at Galt Historic Railway Park near Stirling. Bring out Dad and ride the rails. Hotdogs or hamburger, cold drink - $5. Children must be accompanie­d by an adult. • Southern Alberta Self-Help Associatio­n Annual General Meeting will be held June 20 at the Lethbridge Senior Citizens Organizati­on, 500 11 St. S. in stage area (signs will be posted). Dinner at 6 p.m., meeting at 6:30 p.m.

• The Chicken Wing Challenge, benefiting Parkinson Alberta, will take place June 21 at 6 p.m. at Hudsons Tap House, 904 2 Ave. S. Teams of four may register on the Parkinson Alberta website, parkinsona­lberta.ca/chickenwin­gchall enge. The public is welcome to attend to cheer on the competitor­s and enter onsite raffles and giveaways. The winning team will receive prizes from various sponsors.

• Volunteer Lethbridge Project Paintbrush is operating for another summer. The program organizes volunteers to paint exterior projects for seniors and people who are physically or financiall­y unable to complete the work themselves. Homeowner applicatio­ns are being accepted, and volunteers and sponsors are also needed.
