Derby Dames hosting tournament

The second annual Hellz Jezebel Memorial roller derby tournament is ready to roll this weekend.

Hosted by the Deathbridg­e Derby Dames at the new west Lethbridge ATB Centre, twoday event Saturday and Sunday will feature teams from Alberta and Saskatchew­an.

Teams competing this year include the Deathbridg­e Derby Dames, Redneck Betties (Swift Current), East Side Wheelers (Indus), Gas City Regulators (Medicine Hat), Rocky View Rollers (Crossfield) and the Badlands Hellraiser­s (Drumheller).

There will also be a junior game Sunday with the Windy City Wipeouts facing the RaRa Riots of Swift Current.

The first game Saturday starts at 9 a.m.

The Hellz Jezebel Memorial roller derby tournament honours former Lethbridge Roller Derby Guild member Jessica Olsen (derby name Hellz Jezebel).

The tournament is a double eliminatio­n with the bronze and gold games starting at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday.

The Lethbridge Roller Derby Guild will be collecting donations both days in the name of Hellz Jezebel for the Lethbridge Youth Treatment Centre for AHS.

There will also be a concession, silent auction and vendor village.

Door sales go to supporting junior and adult roller derby programs in Lethbridge.

Two-day, $10 advance tickets are available at Drunken Sailor.

Door tickets are $15 for two days, $10 for one day, $5 for youth aged 13-17, while kids 12-and-under are free.

On Sunday, dads get in free when accompanie­d by a youth or child.
